Wiki Spaces

I was very excited to see that one of our assignments is to create a Group Wiki Page. The technology instructors at Chalkville Elementary School have lead workshops for teachers who are interested in creating and maintaining their own webpage through Wiki Pages. I learned how to create my own Wiki Page for my classroom. Check it out! http://cesmbaggett.wikispaces.com/

WOW! That looks great. Have you made a wiki page before? What is the difference between a wiki page and a regualr web page?

I agree! How cool to have all that information at your finger tips. I, too, want to know the differenc between a Wiki and a regular blog page. We are required to do blogs at out school but if Wiki is better, I would love to teach it to our staff (after I learn how to do it, of course)

Melanie- This is an incredible resource for your class and for parents. I love that you have the fluency pages on there as well b/c parents know exactly what you are testing for when checking on fluency. I love the idea of having everything available and knowing that as a parent, I could check the class's wiki space and see current projects, pictures, etc. Do you like the wiki page better than a website. Is it easier to do and upload information? Great job! Thanks for sharing!

Melanie, You have an awesome classroom website. I hope to learn to do one like yours. It provides the parents with all the information they need to help out at home. We are required to create a website at my school, too! You gave me some great ideas to include in mine. Thanks for sharing!

Wiki and Blogs are very similar. However, I have set up my Wiki as view only so that people cannot go in and change my information. Wiki is set up to have links to other pages, and it is very easy to upload information to it. All I do is go to http://www.wikispaces.com/ and sign in with my username and password. If you'd like to experiment with Wiki, just log on to its webpage and see for yourself!
